A comprehensive insurance package for privately-owned or rented houses or flats. The Home Insurance pack was designed to offer you a global cover for your most valuable property, your home. It is a comprehensive pack of covers which includes more than 30 basic and optional insurance covers insuring the building and contents as well as your public liability.

What does the Home Insurance cover?

The Policy covers:

  • Loss of or damage to the Building and its Contents (household furniture and equipment, personal effects, domestic and personal clothing, jewellery, paintings, etc) contained within the Building caused by any of the insured perils, as described in the paragraph "Insurance of the Building and Contents - Basic Covers".
  • The legal liability of the Insured for the payment of damages in respect of accidental bodily injury (including death, disease or illness) or accidental damage to material property caused in or about the house or within the boundaries of the land in which the buildings are situated and incurred as occupier or owner of the house or in a personal capacity.


The following optional covers are also offered:

  • Legal liability of the Insured for the payment of damages to his/her employees (domestic servants only) in respect of bodily injury (including death, disease or illness) arising out of and in the course of such employment.
  • Loss of or damage to valuables caused by a sudden and unforeseen event occurring within or outside Cyprus
  • Death, permanent total disablement and Partial Permanent Disablement of the Insured or members of his/her family living with him/her as a result of an accident caused by external violent and visible means occurring within the house
  • Loss of money and financial loss resulting from any credit card being stolen or accidentally lost and subsequently used by someone other than the insured
  • Annual travel insurance cover for the insured and the member of his/her family permanently residing with him/her


What does the Home insurance exclude?


The Policy is subject to certain exclusions, some of which are:

  • War, acts of terrorism, loss, damage or liability arising from nuclear weapons material and radioactive contamination.
  • Subsidence or landship
  • Aerials, solar heating system (could be cover optionally)
  • Employer’s liability.
  • Use of Motor Vehicles or vessels.
  • Motor vehicles, animals, money.

Building and Contents Insurance – Basic Covers

The Policy covers loss or damage caused by:

  • Fire, lightning
  • Explosion
  • Earthquake or volcanic eruption
  • Storm, hurricane
  • Flood
  • Escape of water from pipes or overflowing of water tanks
  • Riot, strike
  • Malicious damage
  • Theft consequent upon burglary
  • Collision involving vehicles or aircraft.
  • Fall of television or radio antennae, masts, towers, trees

Also:

  • Automatic increase of the Sum Insured each year
  • Automatic reinstatement of the Sum Insured following any claim
  • Accidental damage to TV sets, computers, radios, audio and video systems
  • Accidental damage for which the Insured is legally responsible to cables or underground services supplying the Insured Home.
  • Accidental damage to glass, mirrors and sanitary fixtures
  • Temporary removal of contents to another building following loss or damage caused by any of the insured perils
  • Loss of rent and the reasonable additional cost of comparable accommodation if the Insured Home is made uninhabitable by any of the insured perils.
  • Architects’, legal and surveyors’ fees recently incurred in repair or replacement following loss or damage caused by any of the insured perils
  • Expenses for removal of debris and demolition following loss or damage caused by any of the insured perils
